After fighting through many illnesses the past year, Anna Jacqueline Gallant, of Miramichi, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021, at the Bathurst Regional Hospital, at the age of 77.

Born in Newcastle, she was the daughter of the late John and Mona (Porter) MacTavish. She worked at Hotel Dieu Hospital and then the Miramichi Regional Hospital until her retirement.
Her home and her family were her life. If she knew who you were she cared and worried about you. For a woman who had so many fears, she was very brave. She taught her kids respect and to stand up for themselves and for the things they believed in. She was her kids biggest fan.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter Donna (Brent Gallan) of Miramichi; two sons John (Wanda) and Michael (Lisa) both of Riverview; two sisters Betty (Ned Corcoran) of South Nelson and Jeanie (Mark Fogarty) of Nelson; three brothers Blair MacTavish (Mary) of Miramichi, Jack MacTavish (late Dolly) of South Nelson, and Garry MacTavish (Carmel) of Miramichi; five grandchildren Zackariah, Makayla, Alex, Evan, and Isabel; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Michael Gallant, and her sister  Faye Saunders.

The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Thursday, March 25, 2021, from 2 to 4 pm. A funeral service will follow the visitation, at 4 pm, from Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Charlene Maguire-MacKnight officiating.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association.
