Anthony Ward, of Natoaganeg (Eel Ground), passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, at the age of 72.
Born in Miramichi, he was the son of the late Alexander and Mary Jane (Matthew) Ward. He was a carpenter and fisherman and enjoyed the woods and being outdoors.
He will be greatly missed by his children Lisa Vicaire, Alvin Ward, Gloria Ward, Deborah Ward, Roseanne Ward, and David Anthony Ward, all of Natoaganeg; five sisters Philomena Ward of Natoaganeg, Jane Simonson of Natoaganeg, Barbara Isaac (Gordon) of Listuguj, QC, Mary Anne Ward (Burton)of Metepenagiag, and Lucy Martin of Natoaganeg; two brothers Wilfred Ward (Shirley) and Raymond Ward, both of Natoaganeg; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Catherine Ward; sister Irene Paul; and brothers Patrick, Thomas, Albert, John, and Joseph.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Thursday, January 19, 2023, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 20, 2023, at 1 pm, from St Joachim’s Roman Catholic Church, in Natoaganeg. Interment will take place in the church cemetery at a later date.
