April Lanteigne passed away suddenly at her home three months shy of her 60th birthday.
Born in Miramichi, she was the youngest child and only daughter of the late Edmund and June (Blackmore) Lanteigne. She is survived by two brothers Todd of British Columbia and Karl of Miramichi, two nephews Destin and Bradley and great-niece Maria.
Besides her parents, April was predeceased by her maternal Grandparents, Jean (Allison) and Frank Blackmore and her paternal Grandparents, Eli and Elizabeth (Comeau) Lanteigne. She was also predeceased by her brother, David (2017) and her Aunt Dianne Ryan.
She is survived by aunts and uncles on her father’s side and numerous cousins who she thought so much of.
April was a great lover of animals having had a variety of cats, dogs, rats etc. over her lifetime. She would never pass an opportunity to help an animal in need.
She was also an avid fisherwoman, and when the weather was good, she would take her gear and walk to the nearest fishing spot. Being near the water brought her peace.
April also was a defender of the underdog and the disenfranchised and could often be found taking up the cause of anything that she felt needed attention brought to. She could be relentless until a fair and just outcome came about.
She spent the last 4 years as a resident at 15 Cole Crescent and she will be missed by the friends that she made there.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 17th from 11am-12 noon with the funeral following directly after at 12:15pm with Rev. Willard Watling officiating. There will be a reception to follow after the service. Burial will take place later in the spring.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the SPCA or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
