Arthur William Hartery

Arthur William Hartery, of Miramichi, passed away peacefully at Percy's Place on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at the age of 86.

Born in Newcastle, he was the son of the late Sylvester and Clara (Vickers) Hartery. He worked as the Plant Manager for Northumberland Dairy for over 50 years and was a dedicated member of St Mary's Roman Catholic Church. He was a devout Catholic, a member of the Bereavement Ministry, and volunteered much of his time at the church.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Rosella (Connell) Hartery of Little Bartibog; daughters Cynthia Hartery (Art Young) of Miramichi and Deborah Rauwerda (Donald Rauwerda) of Virginia, ON; sons Dolan Hartery (Late Mary Chase) of Ottawa, ON, Gary Hartery (Peggy Herrington) of Ottawa, ON, Kevin Hartery (Patsy Sieben) of Saskatoon, SK, Paul Hartery of Ottawa, ON, Michael Hartery of Saint John, Brian Hartery (Kim Jones) of Miramichi, and David Hartery of Wynard, SK; 14 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Lyman Hartery; infant brother Edward Hartery; and grandson Caelan Hartery.

Arthur Hartery was a hard working, generous man who always had a smile and a joke to share. In his 86 years of life, he faced many obstacles. Arthur was never one to complain about his trials and tribulations. He faced every day as if it was a new one, taking life one day at a time. He was the epitome of strength.

Arthur loved his career as a milk man and later as plant manager. His dedication and work ethic earned him many lifelong friends; the Co-op was his favorite place. His stories about work were endless, as nothing ever compared to those wonderful memories. He enjoyed his time with his coworkers, customers, and supportive community.  

There are not enough positive words to describe the kind of man Arthur was. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. His family’s hearts are broken but they are gratified that he is at peace and reunited with his late family. They thank everyone for the outpouring of support and generosity. As Arthur would say, “Good day! Great day, eh?”

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 2 pm. A reception will take place downstairs following the funeral service, and all are welcome to attend.
