    It is with great sadness that the family of Carrie MacTavish announces her passing on to her eternal home on Saturday, November 24, 2012, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, with her loving family by her side.

    She is survived by her husband Ben of 70 years on November 28, 2012. Her daughter Mona (Tom) of Miramichi; her son Reg (Mary) of Strathadam; her three grandchildren Karen (Robert Francis), Kenton Dunphy (Joy), and Scott MacTavish (Tammy); her great grandsons Jeremy (Alisha) and Brett Francis, Ryan and Dylan Dunphy, and Dillan and Tyler MacTavish; and her great great granddaughter Mya Francis. Carrie is also survived by her sister Sadie Dunnett of the Spencer Nursing Home, Moncton; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    Carrie was born in Sillikers to Margaret (MacDonald) and David Matchett, on October 5, 1924. She was a home maker, noted for her cookies and loved her quilting. She was a very active member of Red Bank Women's Institute, Branch No. 90 Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary, and Sunny Corner Seniors.

    Carrie was predeceased by an infant grandson, Kelsey Ley Dunphy; her parents Margaret and David; her sisters Mary, Hattie, Anna, Jenny, and Henrietta; and her brother David.

    The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Sunday, November 25, 2012, from 7 to 9 pm, and on Monday, November 26, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at 11 am, with Rev. Gillis Smith officiating. A private burial will take place, following the service, at the Presbyterian Cemetery in Boom Road.

    As expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association, St Stephen Presbyterian Church, or to a memorial of one's choice.
