Clarence Frances Doran

August 15, 1949 — January 9, 2024

Clarence Frances Doran, of Miramichi, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 74.

Born in Newcastle, he was the son of the late Harold and Lillian (Allison) Doran.

He will be greatly missed by his brother Kevin Doran (Debbie) of Miramichi; foster brother and best friend Chris Douglass of Miramichi; five sisters Gloria Allison of Whitney, Colleen Daley (Don) of Athens, ON, Carol Morris of Miramichi, Brenda Doran of Miramichi, and Youlanda Donahue (Billy) of Miramichi; 13 nieces and nephews; and 11 great nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Glen Doran.

Clary had a great love of trains since he was a child and watching them brought a smile to his face.  His love of trains started from his Grandfather Billy Doran, who lived below the train station, taking Clary for many walks along the tracks.  He continued to watch the trains travel by the train station until he became too sick to visit the train station anymore.

Clary loved to meet people and have a chat and he hardly ever forgot anyone’s name.  He was so gifted with a great memory and if you asked him what year someone was born in or what type of vehicle they had in a certain year he very rarely got it wrong.  He loved collecting new currency and you made a point to make sure his gift of money did not have a wrinkle in it and that it was as new as could be!

Clary loved listening to music and even though he was a saver, money was not an object when he was shopping for CD’s or records.  Some of his favourite bands were Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Petula Clark and Led Zeppelin. He enjoyed living at the special care home with Chris and especially liked Ashleigh, one of his Caregivers.  When he went on vacation last summer he was only interested in buying one thing and that was a postcard for Ashley.  He loved going to daycare once a week where he could meet his friends and hope for a good win at playing bingo.  The excitement Clary and Chris expressed over winning a toonie at Bingo was priceless.

Clary has a great family and Harold and Lill would have been proud to see how great all of their kids were in being there for Clary while he was sick.  They provided so much one-on-one care to him and met all of his wants and needs during his final stay of well over a month in the Miramichi Hospital.
