It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Allan Newman, 78, of Lower Derby, NB.

Born in Nelson, Miramichi, on January 21, 1943, he was the eldest son of the late Allan and Beatrice (MacDonald) Newman.

God call David peacefully to his heavenly home on Monday, January 3, 2022, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital.

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Carol, of 57 years; his two children Preston (Karen Currie) of Douglastown and Tanya of Renous; two grandchildren Zachary and Ellie who were his pride and joy.

David was a member of the Family Worship Centre and the Miramichi River Cruisers. He was employed at Repap/UPM for over 38 years in the Kraft Mill as a machine operator. He loved his job and cherished the friendships he made at the mill for many years after his retirement in 2001.

David was an avid car lover and a real "chevy" man. In 2003, he purchased an antique 1977 Royal Blue Ford Ltd. He joined the Miramichi River Cruisers and He and Carol would enjoy travelling to various car shows all over New Brunswick and Price Edward Island. After retirement, David enjoyed meeting his work buddies for breakfast at the Kingsway and coffee at Tim Hortons. David loved to be around people and was well liked by all who knew him.

He loved his wife and family, was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was known by his easy going, kind, gentle nature.
David was a great man of faith , always trusted and served God with a grateful heart, and taught his children to do the same.

He is survived by two sisters Audrey Matchett of Kelly's Special Care Home in Quarryville and Barbara (Frankie Duthie) of Miramichi; one brother Garfield (Pauline) of Lower derby; two sisters-in-law Edith Newman of Miramichi and Ida Sullivan of Gray Rapids; special brother and sister-in-law late Hazen and Myrna Sullivan of Gray Rapids; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, staff of Miramichi Regional Hospital 4 East, Manager Kathy Avery and all staff for your kindness, care, and compassion.

Besides his parents, David is predeceased by his other-in-law Emily Curtis, and brother Ambury Newman.

A funeral celebration will take place on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 1 pm, from Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Rick McFadyen, Pastor Theo Craig, and Pastor Jody Holmes officiating. Interment will follow in Boom Road Pentecostal Cemetery.
