Delbert Sheldon Murphy , of Boom Road & Derby Jct., passed away peacefully at home, on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at the age of 80.
Born in Lyttleton, NB, on September 20, 1941, he was the son of the late Guy (Theodore) and Frieda Ida (Chambers) Murphy.
Del work in the woods all of his life from an early age with his father driving horses and cutting wood. He later worked for Anderson's Mill, Miramichi, Joe & Louie Richard on the Plaster Rock Highway (7 Years), Burchill's Saw Mill, Nelson (7 years) and Veneer Products, Napadogan, (28 years). He spent the rest of his years as a self-employed contractor until his retirement. Del loved the woods and horses. Up until his health declined, you would see him cutting fire wood and doing kindles for his family.
Del was a fine man with a heart of gold. Over the last few years, he and Dorval took many trips; J & T'S overnight express to Florida, a cruise, Nashville, Newfoundland, or just taking off to Ontario. The best trip of his life, the one he always wanted to do, was Las Vegas. Dorval's daughter Shelley made the arrangements and off they. The highlights of the trip were exploring Boulder Dam and the Grand Canyon.
Del love going to dances and would dance around the floor at least three times to one tune. He loved going to jams, the church supper, and Tim's for his chocolate Timbits and to meet his friends. He was also a member of Derby Senior's Club.
He attended St. Peters Church, Millerton.
He is survived by his children Patsy Kingston (Ken), John (Lisa), Janet (Jacques Landry ), Lana (Kent Duggan), Paul (Sheryl McNeil), partner Dorval Giberson and her children Shelley Hutchinson and Rick Giberson.
His grandchildren Mitchell McAllister and his children Raine , Nataline & Layla; Murphy McAllister (Eric McKenzie) and their son Rhett (their father Bliss McAllister); Wade Murphy (Brooke Nowlan) and their children Warner & Ruthie ; Colden (Aaron) & Carson Cammack (their father Jeff); Gregory & Zachery Murphy (their mother Kim); Jennifer & Kelsey Bradley; Dorval's grand-children Jason, Amy, Emily, Ethan and Breanne ; and great grandchildren Jayden Aiyanna & Amiyah.
His sisters Gloria Foran (late Del); Donna McKinley (late Roy); Faye Smith (late Jim); Linda Kowalski (Felix); Moria Tessema (Araya); Carolyn MacDonald (late Angus); Ann Marie Parks (Larry); Gail Albert (late Dave); and Paula Murphy; his brothers Laine (late Marg); Blake (Cheryl); and Barry Murphy; sister-in-law Elaine (late Grover); and many nieces, nephew and cousins in Canada & USA
Beside parents, he is predeceased by his brothers Grover Murphy and Donnie Somers.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 4 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held from Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 1 pm, with Father Laskey and Father Barry officiating. Interment will take place in Little Southwest Baptist Church Cemetery.
