Donald (Donnie) Wayne O'Donnell, of Derby, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, October 21 2017, at the age of 71.
Born in Lower Derby, he was the son of the late John and Helena (Williams) O'Donnell. He was an engineer with the Royal Canadian Military and retired from the Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St Bridget's Roman Catholic Church, Renous.
Donnie loved his family and his granddaughters were his pride and joy. He was a story teller like no other, loved to paint, and was a wonderful cook.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Mary Anne (Myers) O'Donnell; son Shawn O'Donnell (Melodie Sullivan) of Miramichi; two sisters Lois Kenny (Robert) and Cheryl Burns both of Millerton; one brother Pat O'Donnell (Diane) of Lower Derby; three granddaughters Cindy, Tiffany, and Samantha Daigle; five brothers-in-law George Myers, Leo Myers, Donald Myers, Gregory Donovan, and Wayne Duffy; one sister-in-law Paulette O'Donnell; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters Jean Donovan and Connie Duffy, and one brother Bill O'Donnell.
The family will receive relatives an friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Sunday, October 22, 2017, from 7 to 9 pm, and on Monday, October 23, 2017, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at 11 am, from St Bridget's Roman Catholic Church, Renous, with Father Vincent Donovan officiating.
