Donna Curtis

January 15, 1954 — June 6, 2024

Donna Mae Curtis, of Blackville, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Percy’s Place, at the age of 70.

Born in Gray Rapids, she was one of twelve children born to the late Arthur and Nora (Sturgeon) Coughlan.  Donna had many pastimes, including baking, doing puzzles and playing Radio Bingo.  She also enjoyed the many large family gatherings at Christmas, or, in the summer, down by the shore.

She will be greatly missed by her partner of 37 years, Herbie Barry, of Blackville; daughter, Corrie Munn (David) of Howards; son, Craig Curtis (Lori Walls) of Blackville; step-daughter, Heather Barry (Artie McDonald) of Whitney, step-son, Herb Jr. Barry (Christine) of Sussex, granddaughter, Jessica Munn (Riley Mutch) of Dipper Harbour; grandson, Marc Munn (Abby Keenan) of Howards.

She is survived by brothers Cameron (Carolyn) of Blackville, Wayne (Tanya) of Moncton, Reggie (Claudia) of Doyle’s Brook, Danny (Bev) of Gray Rapids and Preston  (Karen) of Gray Rapids; sisters Freida Greenhalgh (Keith) of Calgary, Pauline Underhill (Blaine) of Barnettville, Valerie Stewart (Leslie) of White Rapids and Marilyn Urquhart (Norman) of Barnettville.  Also, brother-in-law, Hayward Sturgeon of Miramichi.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by the beloved father of their children, Marcus Curtis; sisters, Noreen Sullivan (Doug) and Vida Sturgeon (Hayward); and brothers-in-law, Norman Urquhart and Vance Underhill; also, step-son, Frank Barry.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Northumberland Funeral Home on Sunday, June 9/24, from 4:00-8:00.  The funeral will take place on Monday, June 10/24 at 11:00 a.m. at Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dave Storey officiating.

Mom had a long battle, spending many months at Region 7 Hospital, and we, as a family, want to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Losier and all the hospital staff.  Although mom had wished to return home, her final days spent at Percy’s Place had the feel of “being home” and made her passing so much easier for all.

As expressions of sympathy, the family would appreciate that any donations be made to Percy’s Place – “A Home Away from Home”.
