Douglas "Dougie" Cortes of Miramichi passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at the age of 55.
Born in Newcastle, he was the son of the late Joseph and Barbara (Duffy) Cortes and worked at Caribou Mines.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Kelly Muzzerrall-Cortes of Miramichi; two sons Stephen Levesque of Miramichi and Tyson Cortes of Saskatoon; stepson Colby Tweedie of Miramichi; two sisters Sheila Shepherd (Rob) of St John, and Tracey Pryor (Perry) of Chrystler, ON; four brothers Kenny (Tammy) of Williamstown, George of Miramichi, Shawn of Williamstown, and Jason (Melanie) of Maple Glen; grandchild Kadence; great niece Mia; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Stephen Cortes and his first wife Michelle Cortes.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, from 4 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at 11 am, from Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charlene McGuire McKnight officiating.
