Mrs.Edith Anna (Cassidy) MacKnight, of New Jersey, passed away at her residence after a lengthy illness, on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the age of 92.
Born on June 12, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Jemima (Loggie) Cassidy. She was a home maker and a member of Zion Presbyterian Church. She was very involved with the church and was a member of the church choir, the Ladies Aid, and a lifetime member of the Atlantic Missionary Society.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter Janice MacKnight of New Jersey; her sister-in-law Helen MacKnight; her caregiver Micheline Robichaud; and several nieces and nephews.
Edith was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Halliday MacKnight; three sisters Pearl, Joyce, and Margaret; and four brothers Calvin, Ralph, Roy, and Melbourne.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Monday, June 25, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at 11 am, from Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Scott Fleming officiating. Interment will take place in Burnt Church Union Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Extra Mural, Zion Presbyterian Church, or to a memorial of one's choice.
