Ellen (Sealy) MacKay, loving wife of Willard MacKay of Miramichi, passed away peacefully at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Friday, March 16, 2018, at the age of 70.
Born in Bathurst NB, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Anita Sealy.
Loving mother to Peggy-Lane (David Clark) and Jason (Tracy) MacKay of Miramichi, NB. She was an amazing Grandma to her five grandchildren, who were her world; Caden, MacKayla, Robbie, Owen, and Ryan.
Ellen is survived by two sisters Rosemary (David Ronalds) of Port Alberni, BC and Kimberly Sealy of Seattle WA; and two brothers Robert Sealy (Jean) of Sackville, NB and Doug Sealy (Beth) of Dartmouth, NS. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Hilda MacKay of Bathurst, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother David; father-in-law Medley; and sister-in-law Linda.
Ellen was very active within her church and her faith was very much a part of who she was.
She retired from Shoppers Drug Mart in 2015, after almost 40 years. She was a member of the Miramichi Golf & Country Club and in previous years, had been involved in many community organizations.
The family will receive family and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Sunday, March 18, 2018, from 6 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018, at 11 am, from St James & St John United Church, with Rev. Alice Szemök officiating.
In Ellen’s memory, donations may be made to St James & St John United Church, Canadian Diabetes Association, or Autism Resources Miramichi.
The family would like to thank the oncology departments at the Miramichi Regional Hospital and Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital, Extra-Mural, Ambulance NB, and the staff of Miramichi Regional Hospital, who gave her such care with pure compassion and respect; true angels without wings.
