Emerson O'Dell Underhill, of Barnettville, passed away with his loving family by his side, on Friday, March 31, 2017, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 85.
Born in Barnettville, he was the son of the late O'Dell and Catherine (Sturgeon) Underhill. He enjoyed tying salmon flies and was the proud inventor of the "Green Machine" and “Shady Lady”. He was also inducted into the Salmon Museum Hall of Fame. He was a member of New Life United Pentecostal Church and was a well known social butterfly by his many friends and family.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Ruth (Mathers) Underhill; three daughters Lori (Delton Curtis) of Gray Rapids, Jackie (Eddie Curtis) of Dungarvon, and Rebecca (Bentley Vickers) of Barnettville; two sons Marty and Danny both of Barnettville; three sisters Norma Mountain of Gray Rapids, Mona Coughlan of Ontario, and Willa Fournier of Campbellton; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Melanie, his brother Jim and infant brother Delbert.
The family will receive relatives and friends from New Life United Pentecostal Church, in Blackville, on Saturday, April 1, 2017, from 7 to 9 pm, and on Sunday, April 2, 2017, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 3, 2017, at 2 pm, from New Life United Pentecostal Church, with Rev. John Beach officiating.
