Mrs. Emma (Comeau) Sonier, of Chatham Head, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2011, at the Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home, at the age of 76.

Emma was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Comeau, of Tracadie-Sheila, and was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, in Chatham Head. She was very involved with the Catham Head Rec Centre and helped with the church suppers.

She is survived her husband Venance Sonier, of Chatham Head; two daughters Katherine (Danny Warren) of Ontario, and Barb (David Kenny) of South Esk; one son Michael (Nora Fitzpatrick) of Nowlanville; one sister Lovina (Ron Smith) of Saint John; six brothers Daniel (Yvonne), Jean, Patrick (Albertine), Lazore (Carmelle), Clarence (Alice), and Emile (Joanne), all of Tracadie- Sheila; five grandchildren Mitchell, Jesse, Justin, Michaela, and Jazmine; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Friday, January 7, 2011, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at 11 am, from the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with Father Stanislas Paulin officiating.

As expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society, or to the Diabetes Association.
