Ernest "Ernie" Howard MacIntosh, of Tabusintac, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 6, 2022, at the age of 81.
Born in Tabusintac, he was the son of the late Eric and Edith (McCallum) MacIntosh. He worked as a Housing Officer at the North Shore Micmac District Council prior to his retirement, and was a member of The Point Church.
Ernie loved his family with all his heart. He had a passion for First Nations and worked tirelessly during his career to improve the lives and housing needs of Indigenous families. He was an avid gardener, and there was nothing he loved more than spending a long lazy afternoon sailing along the Tabusintac River with his beautiful wife Marilyn, in their pontoon boat.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Marilyn (Harding) MacIntosh; son Jeffrey MacIntosh of Miramichi; daughter Jodi MacIntosh of Miramichi; three sisters Margaret Harrison of Kingston, Ontario, Mary Morris of Rochester Hills, Michigan, and Connie Dickie (Dennis) of Riverview; three brothers Hudson MacIntosh (Barbara) of Dalhousie, Eric MacIntosh (Anne Marie) of Barryville, and Elmo MacIntosh (Juanita) of Scotch Settlement; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Jeanette Harding.
A celebration of life will be held at a date to be announced.
Ernie’s family would like to say a special thanks to all the wonderful friends and neighbours who have reached out in recent months to offer support. Your kindness is so appreciated.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to a memorial of one's choice.
