Francis "Frank" Hanley passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, on Monday, May 29, 2023, at the age of 65.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susan (Tupper) Hanley; his son Jamie (Melissa); and daughters Joni (Jason Lynch) and Laura (Sebastien). He was a proud Papa to ten grandchildren, Kyle, Riley, Matthew, Coby, Draidyn, Hudson, Carly, Josie, Ava and Brianna.
He also leaves behind three sisters Judy Goguen (Roy), Wilma Geldart (Andrew Akerly), and Nancy Lavoie (David); mother-in-law Donalda Tupper; sister-in-law Judy Walsh (Clifford Goguen); and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Josie (Goodin) Hanley.
Frank was a proud member of Knights of Columbus Council 8381. He worked at Acadia Forest Products, in Nelson, in his teen years, then moved to Repap Pulp and Paper Mill (UPM) until it closed. He then worked for Liuna Local 900 for 8 year until his retirement.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing and his many adventurous trips with Paul and Mary Savoy. He also enjoyed spending time with his great circle of friends at Oak Point Campground and his lifelong friend Kevin Russel.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Thursday, June 1,2023, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 11 am, at St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, with Father Dan Bastarache officiating. Interment will take place in the church cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Extra Mural Program or to a memorial of one's choice.
