  • Mrs. Georgina (MacKenzie) Curtis, of Blackville, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2010, at the Miramichi Hospital, at the age of 77.

    Born in Blackville, she was the daughter of the late William and Alice (Colford) MacKenzie. She worked at Beaver Foods Ltd as cafeteria supervisor and was a member of L.O.B.A., Blackville Canadian Legion, Blackville Legion Auxiliary, and St Andrew’s United Church. Georgina loved to read, cook, and do crossword puzzles.

    She will be sadly missed by her two daughters Joyce Duke (Cyril) of Nova Scotia, and Terry Walls (Douglas) of Moncton; three sons Leroy (Beth) of Quarryville, William of Blackville, and Allan (Tracy) of Fredericton; one sister Viola Forrest (Lloyd) of Saint John; four brothers Allan MacKenzie (Joan) of Bartibog, William MacKenzie (Tirza) of Ontario, Arthur MacKenzie (Irene) of Red Bank, and Omer Mackenzie (Lilah) of Blackville; six step children Hallan Curtis (Donna) of Miramichi, Grady Curtis (Sue) of Saint John, Jeff Curtis (Janet) of Saint John, Larke Curtis of Miramichi, Marsha Duffy (John) of Blackville, and Janice Miner of North West Territories; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; ten step grandchildren; one step great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

    Besides her parents, she was predeceased by first husband Wilmot Walls and second husband Murray Curtis.

    The family will receive relatives and friends from St Andrew's United Church Hall, in Blackville, on Sunday, May 30, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The funeral service will be held from St Andrew's United Church, in Blackville, on Monday, May 31, 2010, at 2 pm with Rev Charlene McGuire officiating.

    As expression of sympathy, donations may be made to a memorial of one's choice.
