It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald Chamberlain announce his sudden passing which occurred on May 19th at his residence at the age of 70.
Born in Bathurst in 1949, Gerald was the third son of the late Frank and Helena (Ferron) Chamberlain.
Gerald was a fixture in Newcastle. From dancing at Ritchie Wharf concerts, to riding his bike in the town parades, to sitting at Tim Hortons, he found a tremendous amount of energy and happiness being around people and celebrations. For those who knew him well, Gerald had the rare ability to make you laugh and appreciate the light that his innocence brought. When he wasn’t at Tim’s or Ritchie Wharf, Gerald often worked shoveling driveways or cleaning yards for his many friends and neighbours. He was passionate about bikes and always eager to show off his latest addition.
Predeceased by his parents, grandparents, especially his maternal grandmother Melanie Ferron who was very dear to his heart, and infant sister Rita, Gerald leaves to mourn his 10 siblings: brothers John, Clifford, Francis (Natalie), Jim (Anne Marie), Glenn (Connie), David Richard (Tammy); sisters Theresa Arseneault (Vince), Mona Grattan (Reg), Dale Schaffer, and Barb Dunnett (Jerry); and many nieces and nephews.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there will be a private family visitation held on Friday, May 29, 2020, followed by a private graveside service at St Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery.
Donations can be made to the Miramichi Community Food Bank, St. Mary’s Cemetery, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
