Helen Elizabeth (McAllister) Gibbs, of Miramichi, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 66, with her family by her side.
Born in Newcastle, she was the daughter of the late Freeman and Mary (Walsh) McAllister. She worked as District Administrative Support IV at Anglophone School District North and was a member of St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, in Nelson.
Helen was a dedicated work employee and was greatly respected by her co-workers. She was honest, kind, and enjoyed the simple things in life. She was a second mother to her brothers and sisters as well as her many nieces and nephews, and was always there to support them.
She will be greatly missed by her husband Brian Gibbs of Miramichi; seven sisters Anna Guitard (Late Gus) of South Esk, Janice Dutcher (Eddie) of South Esk, Susan Sherrard (Late Byron) of Whitney, Cathy Somers (Terry) of South Esk, Betty Henderson (Late Randy) of Miramichi, Loretta McAllister of Miramichi, and Theresa McAllister of Miramichi; brother Paul McAllister of Miramichi; sisters-in-law Carol McAllister (Late Art) of C.I. Road, Susan Earle (Kevin) of Quispamsis, Colleen Shaw (Gary) of Quispamsis, and Karen O'Hearn (Mike) of Moncton; brothers-in-law Gary Gibbs (Carolyn) of Riverview and Kevin Gibbs (Janet) of Miramichi; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Mary Lawlor (Late Ned), Diane Kazamer (Late Mike), Freda Silliker (Late Blaine), and Fern Hare (Late Sandy); brothers Hubert McAllister (Late Marie), Arthur John "Baby John", and Art McAllister; and her fur babies Brie and Finn.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 11 am, from St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, with Father Anthony Dass Papu officiating. Interment will take place in the church cemetery.
