It is with great sadness that the family of Hubert Kimball (Kim) Lawlor announce his passing at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Monday, November 18, 2013 following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Newcastle on September 1, 1952, he was the son of Shirley (Hare) (Lawlor) Tozer and the late Francis J. Lawlor.
He was a member of St. James Parish Church in Sevogle, an original member of the Sunny Corner Volunteer Fire Department and a charter member of the North and South Esk Lions Club. His favorite weekend pastime was four -wheeling with his buddies of all ages. Two four-wheeling trips to Newfoundland with friends were highlights that provided Kim with lasting memories.
A man of many stories, an amazing memory and quick wit, he could entertain family and friends for hours at a time, even during his illness.
A graduate of North & South Esk Regional High School and Moncton Technical School, at the time of his death Kim was employed as an owner-operator with Midland Transport. As a result of his love of trucking, “Big Daddy” covered many miles and gained a great number of loyal friends. In 2010, he achieved the One Million Accident Free Miles Award.
Kim is survived by his wife of 34 years, Grace (nee McAllister), son Francis (Frank), mother Shirley, sister Gert (Gunther Reissner) of Yoho, NB, and mother-in-law Jessie McAllister of Moncton.
In addition to his father, Kim was predeceased by his grandparents Hubert and Ella (Hayes) Hare and James and Marcella (Burns) Lawlor, stepfather Elvin (Byng) Tozer and father-in-law Lorne McAllister.
