James Gordon Lingley, of Lower Derby, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2016, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born in Saint John, NB to the late Herbert and Pearl (Sprague) Lingley. He met the love of his life, Margaret (Duffy), when she was only 16 years of age, and they have spent the last 62 years together.
Before medical problems made him unable to do so, Jim loved nothing more than visiting with neighbours and having great conversations. He had a wonderful sense of humour, and loved to tease. That stayed with him right up until about three days before he passed away.
He enjoyed grocery shopping and puzzle making; making beautiful puzzles and giving them away gave him great pleasure.
Jim leaves behind to mourn his wife Marg; three sons Darrell (Rebecca) of Miramichi, Wayne of Mt. St. Joseph, and Herbie (Addie) of Miramichi; two daughters Charlene (Les) of Fort McMurray, and Sonya (Phil) of Miramichi; six grandchildren Kelly, Krystle, Ashley, Jimmy, Brenda, and Brittany; as well as four great grandchildren Ethan, Haythem, Liam, and Kenton. Also, two sisters Pauline Golding and Shirley Connelly both of Saint John; sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers Donnie, Frank, and Harry.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Monday, December 19, 2016, from 12 pm to 2 pm. The funeral service will follow at 2 pm, from Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Vin Somers officiating.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the I.W.K. or to a memorial of one's choice.
