James "Jim" Osborne Johnston, of Sunny Corner, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Monday, November 4, 2024, at the age of 86.
Born in Miramichi, he was the son of the late Osborne and Dora (Sherrard) Johnston.
Prior to retirement, he worked in construction and mining.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Lina (Bryenton) Johnston of Sunny Corner; son Kirk Johnston of Sunny Corner; daughters Kelly Johnston (Claude Stewart) of Sunny Corner and Susan Davies (Jamie Canivet) of Ontario; brother John Johnston (Donna) of Sunny Corner; sister-in-law Nan Johnston; brother-in-law Murdoch Bryenton (Pat); nephews Chris Johnston, Joshua Johnston, Jeff Johnston, Eric Matchett, and Darren Matchett; and nieces Kim Volpe, Neisha Johnston and Paula Bryenton; and great niece Skye.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his infant daughter Shari; sister Shirley Matchett; and brother Donald Johnston.
There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at 3:30 pm, from St Stephen's Presbyterian Church, in Sunny Corner, with Pastor Tom Ettinger and Pastor Leslie Somers officiating. Interment will take place in St Stephen's United Cemetery, in Red Bank.
