  • James Ward, husband of Annie Isabel Ward, of Eel Ground, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2011, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 79.

    Born in Miramichi, he was the son of the late Dan and Harriet (Cloud) Ward. He worked with the fisheries until his retirement and was a member of Eel Ground Elders and St Joachim's Roman Catholic Church.

    He will be sadly missed by his wife Annie Isabel; two daughters Marilynn Francis of Yarmouth, NS, and Anne Marie Larry (Kevin) of Eel Ground; two sons James P. Ward of Eel Ground and Leonard Sanipass (Sheryl) of Hebron, Maine; 15 grandchildren Erica, Jacob, Elijah, Hannah, Gianna, Cameron, Mariah, Peter, Marilynn-Leigh, Wasgeesic, Annie Mae, Jennifer, Barbie, Tressie, and Holly; 19 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

    Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one daughter Debra Jean Ward, one sister Claire Fuksa, and one brother Patrick Ward.

    The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, from 7 to 9 pm and on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 29, 2011, at 10 am, from St Joachim's Roman Catholic Church, in Eel Ground, with Father Tom Fowler officiating.

    As expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association, or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
