John (Jack) Murdock Murray, of Tabusintac, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the Tabusintac Nursing Home, at the age of 86.
Born in Tabusintac, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Marion (MacLeod) Murray. He was a logging contractor, prior to his retirement, and was a member of St Andrew's United Church, in Tabusintac. He volunteered much of his time to the Board of Managers, at St Andrew’s United Church, and looked after the church woodlots. He also farmed his whole life, but especially enjoyed it after his retirement.
He will be greatly missed by his three daughters Jocelyn Wishart (Charlie) of Tabusintac, Wendy Savoie (Elzear) of Village St-Laurent, and Cindy Murray of Tabusintac; his two sons Dale Murray (Corinne) of Tabusintac, and Burton Murray (Eva) of Miramichi; four sisters Rubena Price (Late Stan) of Tabusintac, Edna Price (Robert) of Miramichi, Ruth Camirand (Late Jean-Guy) of Victoria Harbor, ON, and Janice Russell (Blake) of Tabusintac; two brothers Ralph Murray (Lorraine) and Neil Murray (Barb) both of Tabusintac; 10 grandchildren Nicholas Murray (Brittany), Peter Murray, Jonathan Murray (Claire), Tiffany Falcon (Trevor), Amanda Montgomery (Nathan), Samantha Wishart, Adam Murray (Mary), Benjamin Savoie (Marie-Carmen), Logan Murray, and Shaunacey Murray (Patrick); nine great grandchildren Savannah, Emma, Bryson, Liam, Naomie, Finnley, Atlee, Nylee, and Layne; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Opal (Strang) Murray; his son Brad Murray; two sisters Lorraine and Eunice; and three brothers Alden, Bill, and Lee.
The family will receive relatives and friends from St Andrew's United Church, in Tabusintac, on Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 2 to 4 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023, at 2 pm, from St Andrew's United Church, with Rev. Jean Herman officiating. Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Tabusintac.
In lieu of flowers, due to allergies, donations made to the Tabusintac Nursing Home would be greatly appreciated by the family.
