Joseph (Joey) Matthew Simonson, of Eel Ground, passed away at his residence, on Sunday, July 14, 2013, at the age of 54.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, USA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marilyn Simonson. He worked as a laborer and fisherman and was a member of Victory Baptist Church, in South Esk.

He will be sadly missed by his sister Michelle; his brother Kelly; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Thursday, July 18, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 19, 2013, from St Joachim's Roman Catholic Church, at 10 am, with Father Fowler officiating.

As expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a memorial of one's choice.
