Joseph David Lawrence (Lonnie) Gallen, of Miramichi, passed away on Thursday, December 19,2013, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 83.

Born in Benjamin River on July 19, 1930, he was the son of the late David and Josephine (Boudreau) Gallen.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Gallen of Miramichi; three sisters Flora Hickey of Jacquet River, NB, Priscilla Arsenault (Wilfred) of Bois des Filion,QB, and Shirley Maltais (Joseph) of Dalhousie,NB; four stepsons James Hill of Miramichi, John Hill (Stephanie) of Moncton, Lawrence Hill (Agatha) of Miramichi and Stephen Hill (Debbie) of Miramichi; two stepdaughters Penny Adams (Shawn) of Saint John and Rhona McMann (Loomis); 11 step grandchildren; 13 step great grandchildren; and 15 nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers Raymond (Doris) and Ralph (Rachel).

Lonnie worked for the town of Newcastle for over 30 years and retired in 1987. He was a quiet man who loved country music and dancing. He enjoyed being with family and friends and was the best stepfather ever. He loved life and was very active.

Lonnie lived his life to the fullest everyday. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Friday, December 27, 2013, from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013, from Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, at 1 PM with Father Tom Fowler officiating.
