Leroy Hughie Theodore Stewart

Leroy Hughie Theodore Stewart, of Blackville, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the age of 75.

Born in Blackville, he was the son of the late Archie and Greta (Campbell) Stewart. 

In his younger years, he attended Bible College in Saskatchewan with his brother John. He started the grocery store in Blackville and operated it for 10 years and worked as a welder prior to his retirement. He was an entrepreneur and had the Radio Shack franchise, Leroy's Home Decorating, and operated a Dollar Store.

He also worked on the school board for many years and was a Director in the NBATV Federation and helped to create many of the trails in our area when he was President of the Blackville ATV Club. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, and he would do anything for them as their Papa; a role he adored. He was also a member of Miramichi Fellowship Church, in Blackville.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Doreen (Hooper) Stewart of Blackville; sons Jamie Gillespie (Rhonda) of Blackville and Jonathan Stewart of Moncton; daughter Elsie Stewart of Blackville; brother John Stewart (Darlene) of Blackville; six grandchildren Kristen, Caleb, Kayden, Oliver, Emma, and Jaya; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Annie Anderson (Late Clifton).

The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Sunday, February 9, 2025, from 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 2 pm, from Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. John Stewart officiating.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or to a memorial of one's choice.
