Mannfred "Fred" Curtis, of Blackville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 85.
Born in Blackville, he was the son of the late Evert and Ruby (Mountain) Curtis. He retired as a school teacher and administrator from Blackville School and was a member of St Andrew's United Church. Fred was a member of the Blackville Fire Department and was always active in the community. He was part of the "Old Boys Club" and took part in their annual canoe river run for over 40 years.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Vada (Coughlan) of Blackville; three daughters Sherry (Terry) of Florida, Edwina (Timmy) of Miramichi, and Lisa of Blackville; son Brock (Norma) of Blackville; two brothers Reggie (Willa) of Fredericton, and Winston (Mae) of Blackville; five grandchildren Jana, Shaniah, Tyler, Chandler, and Ciara; great granddaughter Laikyn; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Hazel and Georgina; and brothers Murray, Wilmot, and Garland.
The family will receive relatives and close friends from St Andrew's United Church Hall on Monday, December 20, 2021, from 12 pm until 1:30 pm. A private funeral service will take place at St Andrew's United Hall at 2 pm, with Pastor Holly officiating and assisted by Father Laskey.
Please note: Proof of double vaccination is required at both the visitation and funeral service. Social distancing and masks are also mandatory.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Miramichi SPCA or to a memorial of one's choice.
