On February 13, 2025, our beloved mother, Marie Marguerite Durelle gained her angel wings at the age of 99 and 326 days, and went to join her family and be with the Lord. She passed peacefully at La Villa Maria nursing home in St Louis de Kent, N.B. where she consistently received excellent care by the wonderful staff. We will forever be grateful for their kind and caring nature and making the residents there feel like this truly is their home.
Marguerite was born in Pointe Sapin on March 24, 1925 to Pierre Daigle of Pointe Sapin and Séraphie (Maillet) of Acadieville. Together they raised a large family of 15 children. Marguerite and her family moved to Baie Ste Anne when she was very young for her father's work and she eventually met and married Raymond Durelle on October 28th, 1947. They went on to raise 5 children together. She lost her beloved husband Raymond in 2002 as well as their eldest son, Ray Jr. in 2021. She is survived by her remaining children, Gilles (Kathy), Adrien (Gabrielle), François (Buff) (Bernice) and Marie-France (Flo) (Ron), daughter-in-law Sylvia Randell, 9 grandchildren; Ray Durell III, (Kathy), Carole Martin (André), Tanya McCormack (Craig), Kasey Durell, Kye Durell, Matthew Drysdelle, Coulton Durelle, Lina Durelle and Sophie Melanson. 10 great-grandchildren, Cody Martin, Brianne Martin, Natalie Durell, Ben Durell, Alex Drysdelle, Jake Gallant, Emma Gallant, TJ Carlin and Jax Carlin. She shared a special bond with great-grandson, Chase McCormack who was planning her upcoming 100th Birthday party with enthusiasm. She is also survived by several special nieces and nephews as well as sisters-in- law Esther Mahoney (Burton), Marie LeGresley (Victor), brothers-in-law, Marc Durelle and Jean-Baptiste Durelle (John) (Ernestine). She was a very devoted mother to her children and an attentive grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked as a custodian at the local school for many years. Marg's kitchen was always open and the pot of King Cole tea was always brewing. She was well known for her meat pies, poutines rappées and chicken fricot. She was always there for her children. The best mom anyone could hope for.
Marguerite is the last living relative of her immediate family and was predeceased by all of her siblings, Marie-Anne Vautour, Imelda Morais, Elizabeth Manuel, Beatrice Richard, Della Arseneault, Bertha Wilson, Therese Daigle, Benoit Daigle, Alcide Daigle, Nazaire Daigle, Emile Daigle, Alyre Daigle, Eric Daigle and Edmond Daigle.
