Mary "Helen" (Comeau) Woods, of Miramichi, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 90.

Born in Bathurst, NB, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Elizabeth (DeGrace) Comeau.

Helen worked at Tower’s Jewellery and also at the Miramichi Food Bank.

She was heavily involved in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, and volunteered with several committees such as teaching Catechism, the Baptismal Committee, coordination for bereavement, collection and collection counter, greeter at the door, and R.C.I.A.

She also volunteered much of her time with the Miramichi Food Bank, Arts & Environment, Right to Life, Schizophrenia Society, Ladies Auxiliary Knights of Columbus, and the Sisters Associates.

Helen was recognized and received many awards for her tireless service and her unwavering commitment to family, church, and community.

She will be greatly missed by her three daughters Dorothy Dickson (Leslie) of Miramichi, Sandra Waye (Wendell) of Sunny Corner, and Kathryn Norton (Robert) of Miramichi; her three sons Gerry of Aldouane, Phil of Miramichi, and Paul (Heather) of Moncton; her two sisters Agatha Woods (Raymond) of Miramichi and Irene White (Allan) of Bathurst; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband James Daniel (Danny) Woods; her sister Celia Hachey and her brother-in-law Hampford Hachey.

At the family’s request, there will be no visitation.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 11 am, from Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, with Father Arnie Hachey officiating.

Interment will take place in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church Cemetery.
