It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a dear sister, daughter, aunt, cousin and friend, Melanie Frances Silliker of Miramichi, NB. Melanie was the daughter of the late Carman and Ruth (McKibbon) Silliker and the sister of Twila Gilmore (Dale Hamilton).
At a young age, Melanie developed a love for music. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing hymns and spending time with her large beloved extended family. She sang in the choir at the Little Southwest Baptist Church where she was a life-long member and a Sunday School and AWANA teacher for many years.
She was always a joy to be around. She displayed her positive and upbeat outlook and amazing sense of humour even through her most trying times as she bravely battled illness over several years.
Melanie is survived by her sister, Twila of Miramichi, NB, her dear friend Cynthia (Terry) Tozer, her nieces and nephew, Carol Tozer, Matthew (Cara) Gilmore, and Ruth (Jordan) Ingraham; her aunts and uncle, Louise Small, Arlene Silliker, Ned (Patsy) McKibbon, Anna Silliker and Carmel Silliker, her cousins Starlet (Drew), Sandy (Terilynn), and Sonny; and many other cousins and grand-nephews and nieces.
Melanie is predeceased by her parents, Carman and Ruth and her brother-in-law George Gilmore.
The funeral service will be held at Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, September 10th at 3:00pm with Pastor Vaden Sutherland officiating. Private burial will be held at the Lyttleton Baptist Cemetery.
In Melanie’s memory, donations may be made to the River Church Cemetery Fund or to a memorial of one’s choice.
