Melvin Vincent McGee of Miramichi passed away on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home at the age of 86.

Born in Charlottetown PEI on July 23, 1928 he was the son of the late Philip and Janie (Swallow) McGee.
Melvin was a retired employee for the former town of Newcastle and a member of Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church where he volunteered for many years.

A loving husband of the late Anita (Robichaud) McGee for 49 years and a father he is survived by his 4 sons: Allison (Nora) Edmonton, AB; Brent (Donna) Miramichi, NB; Wendell Miramichi, NB; and Darwin (Joanne) St. John’s, NFLD,
3 sisters: Colleen McGee Charlottetown, PEI; Marie (McGee) Murphy Charlottetown, PEI; Denise (Jim) O’Hanley, Charlottetown, PEI
10 Grandchildren: Christianne, Philip, Nicole, Melissa, Christopher, James, Jalene, Allan, Benjamin, and Joseph.
3 Great grandchildren: Ainsley, Darren, and Cole

Melvin was predeceased by his wife Anita, his 2 sons Darren and Philip, his 4 sisters Peggy, Shirley, Marilyn, and Millie, and his brother Harry.

Visitation will be held at Northumberland Funeral Home on Sunday February 22, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday February 23rd, 2015 at 1pm from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic church with Father Tom Fowler officiating.

Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery later in the spring.

In Melvin’s memory donations may be made to Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home or a charity of ones choice.
