It is with great sadness that the family of Merlin Stanley Jardine announce his passing at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on March 30, 2022, at the age of 66. He was born in Newcastle, NB and lived his entire life in Maple Glen NB, until his passing.
Merlin was an incredibly loving, kind, compassionate and patient person, parent, and spouse. Generous with his time and knowledge, he was known to many as the “Mr. Fix It” of Maple Glen with the ability to find ingenious solutions to any problem in a way that only Merlin could. While his body no longer allowed him to do the work himself, he would welcome anyone to his garage to teach them how to fix things or simply beat them at a game of crib.
Merlin enjoyed playing cards, bowling, as well as horseshoes for several years before his health forced him to stop. He and his wife Sandra lived a simple life one day at a time, while he fought a courageous battle with many diseases that slowly over time took his ability to continue.
Merlin leaves behind his wife of 44 years Sandra Jardine and his son Andy Jardine (Guylaine) who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his wife and son, he will also be greatly missed by his father Stanley Jardine; a brother: Darrell Jardine (Sharon); 4 sisters: Brenda Mutch (Hayward), Kim Jardine, Lorraine Young (Terry) and Lesa Kingston (BJ), the Smallwood family and several nieces and nephews. Merlin was predeceased by his mother Willa Jardine, his nephew Adam Baisley, and his brother-in-law Rance Smallwood.
Merlin’s family would like to sincerely thank the many doctors who were instrumental in keeping him going over the course of 26 years. Thank you to Dr. Carol Hudson, Dr. Saba, Dr. Picard, Dr. Ferguson, Dr. Williston, Dr. Boucher, the Miramichi extramural staff with a special mention going to Krissy Obrien who was very special to Merlin, the Miramichi Regional Hospital staff, and the Georges Dumont Hospital staff for all the care over the years.
A celebration of Merlin’s life will be held by the family, on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at their residence, 731 Route 435 Hwy Maple Glen, NB, from 2 pm until 4 pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Merlin’s memory to the Maple Glen Cemetery.
