Mr. Michael Joseph "Lefty" Ward, of Eel Ground, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at his residence, at the age of 59.

Born in Houlton, Maine, he was the son of the late Daniel and Bridget Anne (Barnaby) Ward and was a member of St Joachim's Roman Catholic Church.

He is survived by his son Daniel Ward of Boston, MA; four sisters Freda Harper of Warwick Road, Florine Sans of Florida, Josephine Barlow of Connecticut, and Deloris Hoffman of Edmonton, AB; one bother Donald Ward (Diane) of Newcastle; one sister-in-law Magaret Ward; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and two great great nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Roy Barnaby, two stepbrothers Jim Ward and Pat Ward, and two brother-in-laws Buddy Harper and Alfred Sans.

The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Saturday, April 14, 2012, from 7 to 9 pm and on Sunday, April 15, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 16, 2012, at 10 am, from St Joachim's Roman Catholic Church, with Father Tom Fowler officiating.

As expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, Diabetes Association, or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
