Mr. Billy Somers, of Matthew Settlement, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2009, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 77.

Billy was the son of the late William and Effie (Matthews) Somers. He worked as a miner with Heath Steel Mines until his retirement and attended Lyttleton Pentecostal Church.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Nita (Loggie) Somers, of Matthew Settlement; two daughters Heather (Joe Pantallresco) of Oshawa, Ontario, and Shannon (Mitchell Linkletter) of Matthew Settlement; three sons Bliss (Judy) of Belleville, NB, Boyd (Anthea) of Oshawa, Ontario and Tracy (Noeleta) of Lyttleton, NB; five sisters Marie Harris of Exmore,NB, Gladys Savage of Lower Newcastle, Rona Kenny of Red Bank, Evelyn Moss of Sydney, NS, and Edere Smith of Oshawa, Ontario; two brothers Harry (Luela) of Millerton, and Cleveland of Sunny Corner; 13 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one sister Buila Astle and four brothers Wilson, Lance, Herbie, and Beaton.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Lyttleton Pentecostal Church on Sunday, November 15, 2009, from 7 to 9, and on Monday, November 16, 2009, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday November 17, 2009, at 2 pm, from Lyttleton Pentecostal Church, with Pastor Vaden Sutherland officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date.

As expression of sympathy, donations to Extra Mural, or to a memorial of one’s choice, would be appreciated by the family.
