John was the son of the late Leo and Maisey (Fairah) Mitchell. He worked as an entrepreneur and attended St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.

He is survived by one sister Marjorie Linkletter (Gordon) of Miramichi; two brothers Vincent (Selma) of Miramichi, and Michael (Carol) of Miramichi; one brother-in-law Lester MacCullum of Miramichi; and several nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by one sister Victoria, and one brother David.
