Mrs. Gladys Barrieau, wife of the late Peter Barrieau, of Douglasfield, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2009, at her residence, at the age of 87.

Born in Renous, Gladys was the daughter of the late Peter and Hannah Donovan. She was a homemaker and attended St Patrick’s R. C. Church in Nelson.

Gladys is survived by five daughters Janice (Edmund) Malley of Douglasfield, Anne (Patrick) Butler of Douglasfield, Nancy (Ken) McIntosh of Douglasfield, Pamela (Tony) Layton of Nelson, and Catherine (Paul) Hamilton of Douglasfield; five sons George (Marion) of Douglasfield, Ronald (Julianna) of Douglasfield, Peter Jr. of Douglasfield, Gerald (Barbara) of Douglasfield, and Edward (Helen) of Douglasfield; three sisters Bernadine Underhill of Renous, Marcella Donahue of Blackville, and Rita Manderville of Renous; one brother Greg Donovan of Millerton; 24 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Peter Barrieau, and two sisters Betty Hogan of Derby, and Catherine Whalen of Renous.
