    Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Letty Innes, passed away peacefully May 16, 2008 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital surrounded by family.

    Born in Duntara, Newfoundland on June 6, 1919, she was the daughter of Michael and Anastasia Griffin. Letty married James A. Innes at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Bartibog on June 29, 1944.

    A kind and generous person, Letty devoted her life to family and church. She was a Lector, active in the Catholic Womens League and involved with religious education for many years. Her outstanding volunteer service was recognized with a national citation for Development and Peace, the official international agency of the Canadian Catholic Church. As well, Letty was awarded the Dollard Medal by the Diocese of Saint John.

    Letty was predeceased by her husband Jim and sisters Joan and Susanna. She is survived by her sister, Anne Hestbech of Sioux City, Iowa, brother, Raymond Griffin of Toronto, ON and daughters, Mary Poffenroth (Dennis) of Miramichi, Cecilia Mutch (Doug) of Fort McMurray, AB and sons, David Innes (Thelma) of Fredericton, Roy Innes (Dorothy) of Miramichi, and Claude Innes of Miramichi, seventeen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

    Visitation will take place at Northumberland Funeral Home, 102 Pleasant Street, Miramichi, NB Sunday from 7 to 9 and on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Miramichi at 12 o’clock with Father Tom Fowler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Mary’s Parish Building Fund or Development and Peace. The funeral arrangements are in the care of Northumberland Funeral Home, 102 Pleasant St. telephone 622-7741
