Queenie MacDonald

Queenie (MacGarvie) MacDonald, of Miramichi, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the age of 93.

Born on December 2, 1930, in Atholville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Thompson) MacGarvie. She was a homemaker, but in her early years she worked at McKibbon's Grocery Store, in Red Bank. She was a member of St James and St John United Church, where she also taught Sunday School for many years.

She will be greatly missed by her daughters Peggy (Bradley Gorman) of Miramichi, and Donna (Don Black) of Rothsay; sons Hudson (Late Anita) of Langley, BC, and Ronald of Miramichi; her grandchildren Matthew Gorman (Amanda), Alexander Black (Danielle), and Sarah Shaw (Andrew); great grandchildren Claire and Desmond; special niece Kathy MacDonald of Miramichi; and nephew Myles Brideau (Jackie) of Miramichi.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Melbourne MacDonald; brothers Ronald and Stanley; and sisters Doris, Lillian, and Susie.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside burial will take place in Miramichi Cemetery at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Extra Mural Program, or to a memorial of one's choice.
