Raymond Huntley Saunders, of South Nelson, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at the age of 67.
Born in Miramichi, he was the son of the late Lambert and Ruth (Connelly) Saunders. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, and fishing. Raymond was employed at Repap sawmill as a yardman, and in his later years worked as a carpenter focusing mainly on home renovations. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Michele Saunders of South Nelson, and his children; Christopher Saunders of McKinleyville, Bradley Saunders (Julie) of Bathurst, Jodi Saunders-Colford (Chris) of Salisbury, and two Stepsons Micheal Roy of Miramichi, and Kyle Roy (Rebecca) of Miramichi. He will in addition be missed as a wonderful “Grumpy,” to his six Grandchildren; Khrislyn, Anastasia, Abigail, Hunter, Kyliee, and Ryker.
Raymond is survived by one Sister, Judy Arsenault of Nova Scotia, and three Brothers; Joseph (Deanna) of Chelmsford, Odell (Cindy) of Chatham Head, and Lambert (Joanne) of Miramichi. He will forever be missed by his Niece Donna and Nephew Michael with whom he shared a special bond,and will also be missed by many other dear Nieces and Nephews, and extended family.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife Faye Isabel Saunders (MacTavish); and brother Emery Saunders.
Per his request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside burial will take place at Saunders Cemetery, Wednesday October 5th at 6p.m, officiated by Rev. Thomas Nisbett.
