Richard Dean Martin, of Natoaganeg (Eel Ground), passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the age of 66.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Mike and Susan (Vicaire) Martin. He worked many jobs prior to his retirement; gravel truck driver, security, and fisherman, and was a member of St Joachim's Roman Catholic Church.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Lucy Martin of Eel Ground; his three children Charlene Ward, Priscilla Martin-Miller (Stephen Miller), and Derek Martin (Cindy) all of Natoaganeg (Eel Ground); three sisters Joyce Sabattis (Mark) of Oromocto, Margaret Ward (Benny) of Natoaganeg (Eel Ground), and Karen Martin (Mike Burns) of Natoaganeg (Eel Ground); one brother Chester Martin (Rita) of Natoaganeg (Eel Ground); five grandchildren Austin, Amelia, Hannah, Lauren, and Leah; two great grandchildren Abby Jane and Kamden; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved furry companion Jack.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Vincent and Michael, and niece Cornellia.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Monday, November 21, 2022, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at 11 am, from St Joachim's Roman Catholic Church, in Natoaganeg (Eel Ground).
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a memorial of one's choice.
