Mrs. Rita Howe, wife of the late Luke Howe, of Nelson, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011, at the Miramichi Hospital, at the age of 89.
Born in Wayerton, she was the daughter of the late Everette and Gertrude (Estey) Baisley. She was a homemaker and a member of St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church.
Rita is survived by her daughter Lois Foran (Joseph) of Harper Road; two sons Bernard of Nelson, and Don (Carol Ann) of Douglasfield; two sister Ella Waye of Wayerton, and Jane Ashton (Harvey) of Sillikers; five grandchildren Heather Howe, Bradley Howe, Colin Howe, Jason Forand, and Jeffery Foran; four great grandchildren Thomas Howe, Taylor Howe, Ashley Howe, and Ethan Howe; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one sister Theresa Johnson; eight brothers Barry, Gerald, John, Bill, Leonard, Jim, Morrsey, and Louis; and two daughters Peggy McGrath and Patsy Gunn.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Sunday, July 17, 2011, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 18, 2011, from St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, at 11 am, with Father Jim McQuade officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Extra Mural, St Patrick's Memorial Fund, or to a memorial of ones choice.
