It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Serenity Leah-Anne Simon Joe, of Natoaganeg (Eel Ground), who passed away on September 22, 2022, at the age of 4 years.
Serenity was the daughter of Nicole LaPierre-Simon (Aaron McGrath, Dad) and Steven Joe.
She will be greatly missed by her parents; her little brother Mason; maternal grandparents Tobi "Mimi" and Basilio "Papi" Russo of Natoaganeg (Eel Ground); grandparents Jennifer "Mimi Grandma" and Dustin "Grand Papa" Ramsay of Miramichi; great grandmothers "Nanny" Betty Dunfield of Miramichi and Ruby (Rebecca) "Joobie" Joe of Esgenoôpetitj (Burnt Church); great grandfather "Grampy" Joe Crossman of Natoaganeg (Eel Ground); uncles Roman Francis and Moises Russo; aunt Savannah Simon; godmother Taylor Simon; godfathers Brent Johnson and Kolby Simonson; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Serenity was loved by both the communities of Natoaganeg and Esgenoôpetitj where she had many friends, young and old.
She was predeceased by her great grandmother Anne Darlene Crossman.
The family received relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Friday, September 30, 2022, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 11:30 am, from St Joachim's Roman Catholic Church, in Natoaganeg (Eel Ground), with Father Peter Aloo officiating. Interment will take place on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at 3:30 pm, from St Joachim's Roman Catholic Cemetery.
