Shirley Ann McKinnon

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Ann (Lloyd) McKinnon, at Miramichi Regional Hospital, on October 11, 2023, at the age of 75.

Born in Newcastle, NB, she was the daughter of the late Walter James Lloyd and Doris Murray (Russell) Lloyd. Shirley was retired after working many years at the Miramichi Senior Citizen Home. First, in the Dietary Department then on the floor as an RA. Shirley took great pride in her work and was well loved by staff and patients. Shirley was a member of Saint Samuel’s Roman Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughter Lisa (McKinnon) Sacobie, Grandchildren; Kaitlin McKinnon, Madison Sacobie, Simu Sacobie, and great grandsons, Xavier Pitre McKinnon, RJ Sacobie. Shirley is survived by brothers Kenny (Cecile); Kevin (Sue), sister Lynda McCuaig (David) and mother in-law Doris McKinnon.

Besides her husband Gerry she was predeceased by her parents, and her brother Lorne, sister-in-law Murielle McKinnon, son in-law Rodney Sacobie.

Shirley volunteered at Clark’s Early Learning Program for eight (8) years. Shirley gave so much love to the children and received it ten-fold in return. Shirley will be greatly missed by all the many friends she cultivated over the years. Shirley loved her bingo and music jams.

There will be no visitation. A public graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 17 th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Samuels cemetery in Douglastown with Father Cornelius officiating.

The family would like to thank Dr. Losier and Dr. Slorach, the staff on 1 east and the Palliative care team (especially Stephen).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Palliative Care, Miramichi Regional Hospital Foundation, or to a memorial of one’s choice.
