Susan Annie (Fraser) Palmer passed away peacefully with family by her side on January 9, 2021 at Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 82.
Sue was born to Sydney and Emily (MacKnight) Fraser on March 14, 1938 in Tabusintac. She was brought up in a Christian home and throughout her life she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. Sue attended school in Tabusintac and on graduation started her career as a telephone operator in Newcastle. When she and Lincoln married in 1956 they moved to Bathurst and she became a loving wife, homemaker and later a mother to Neal and Cindy. Bathurst was to be the first of many moves as Lincoln was transferred by NB Power between Fredericton and Chatham. Sue left little pieces of her heart with each move as great friendships and memories were always made. On retirement they settled in Tabusintac.
Through the years Sue supported her children and husband in all their endeavours. She was actively involved in her church through Choir, Sunday School, UCW, Craft and Youth Groups, MACC and Session. Sue was a dedicated volunteer at the local Nursing Home, School, Library and Riverside Cemetery and never failed to lend a hand at any community activity including suppers, recreational events and Terry Fox Runs.
Sue joins her beloved husband Lincoln, her parents Sydney and Emily, her in-laws Ed and Clara, brothers Lorne and Russell, her sisters Maude (Dougald Palmer), Avis (late Donald McCutchen) and Hazel (Carl McCallum), and dear sister and brother-in-law Una and Walter Johnston in heaven.
Sue is survived by her loving children Rev. Neal (Jini) and Cindy (Renaud Savoie), her grandchildren Kimberly Palmer (Jesse Moxley), Mitchell Palmer (Abra), Sonia McLaughlin (Seamus O’Brien), Andrew McLaughlin, and Jason Savoie along with great grand-daughter Frances; by her sister-in-law Grace Fraser, and her nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends at St Andrew's United Church, Tabusintac, on Saturday, July 30, 2022, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. The funeral service will follow at 2 pm with her son Rev. Neal Palmer and Rev. Jean Herman officiating. Interment will take place following the service in Riverside Cemetery, Tabusintac.
Masks will be required in sanctuary in accordance with St. Andrew's Operational Plan.
Sue's family extend their sincere thanks for the excellent and compassionate care provided by Dr. Losier and the staff at Miramichi Regional Hospital throughout her stay, with special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made in Sue's memory to St. Andrew's United Church Memorial in Tabusintac, NB.
