  • Thomas (Tom) Edward Morris, of Miramichi, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 94.

    Born in Newcastle on July 14, 1918, he was the son of the late Edward and Lillian (Flanagan) Morris. Before his retirement, Tom was a salesman for Standard Brands. He was a Third and Fourth Degree Knight with the Father Dixon Council and Bishop Hill Assembly, a District Deputy for Miramichi and surrounding areas, as well as an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus. Tom was also an executive member of the Miramichi Valley Firefighters Association and provided training to many of the different fire departments. He was a member of Saint Mary's Church and Senior's Choir, a United Commercial Travelers (UCT) member, as well as an honorary member of the UCT, and also a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship Award.

    He will be sadly missed by his sister Dolores Morris, of Miramichi; his brother Hughie (Lillian), of Miramichi; and several nieces and nephews.

    Besides his parents, Tom was predeceased by his brother Frank and his nephew David.

    The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Monday, January 14, 2013, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, from Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, at 11 am, with Father Tom Fowler officiating.

    As expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Saint Mary's Building Fund, or to a memorial of one's choice.
