Valerie (Hogan) Coughlan, of Blackville, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 66, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Newcastle, she was the daughter of the late John and Reta (McCormack) Hogan. She had recently retired from the Atlantic Institution as Chief of Food Services, and was currently employed at Blackville Foodland.
She will be greatly missed by her four daughters Angie Connors (Tony) of Millerton, Beverly Curtis (Jamie) of Barnettville, Natalie Coughlan (Jeremy Vickers) of Blackville, and Mallory Coughlan (Cory) of Blackville; three sisters Maureen Evans (Al) of Saint John, Arlene Geldart (Danny) of Brampton, ON, and Krista Kiervin (Marcel Saulnier) of Dieppe; three brothers Ronnie McCormack (Mary) of Blackville, Randy Hogan (Cora) of Edmonton, AB, and Bradley Hogan (Stacey) of Fredericton; her 11 grandchildren whom she adored Larissa, Anthony, Christopher, Camden, Chloe, Tristen, Tessa, Ayden, Kayden, Kohen, and Addison; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her infant son Jonathan.
Valerie was happiest when spending time with her family and in the kitchen. She loved nothing more than to bake everyone’s favourite sweet treats, and have her whole family together for meals. She was an amazing cook, it was definitely her love language.
Her family was her pride and joy. She shared a bond with her “girls” and grandchildren like no other. She dedicated her life to creating memories and traditions with them that will no doubt help carry them through this loss.
The family will receive relatives and friends from St Raphael's Roman Catholic Church, on Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 6 to 8 pm, and on Monday, November 4, 2024, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 11 am, from St Raphael's Roman Catholic Church, in Blackville, with Father Paul Doucet officiating. Interment will take place in the church cemetery.
