It is with deep sadness that the family announce the passing of Wayne William Rees on April 24, 2024 in Trenton, Ontario. Wayne was born on December 26, 1939, in Montreal, Quebec.
Eldest son of the late William Stanley and Winnifred Elsie (Mountain) Rees. Wayne was predeceased by his wife Claudia Elizabeth (Foran) Rees, in 2007, and his son Daniel Wayne Rees in 2014.
Wayne had such a deep and profound love for Blackville, if you ever had the pleasure to have met and speak with him he always referred to Blackville as “Down Home”. In his younger years, Wayne and his (3) brothers would board the train in Montreal and travel to Blackville to spend the summer months with their Grandparents Fred and Mable Mountain. This is where all his favourable memories and friendships were made, and this is where he met the love of his life and mother of his children Claudia. Over the years, Wayne continued to stay in touch with family and friends down home. Should you ever have had the pleasure of a phone call from him you certainly enjoyed the conversation and remembered his infectious laugh. He so loved his family and was so proud of all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and all their accomplishments.
He will be greatly missed by sons David and Peter; daughters Carolyn, Wendy and Tracey and their families; grandsons Patrick, Justin, Casey, Jonathan; granddaughters Alanna, Kate and Stephanie; great grandchildren Paislee, Giavanna (Gia), Landon, Nolan, Lauren, Olive, and Nathaniel; and brothers Darwyn, Donald, Brian and their families. His special Aunt Lois Grady, cousins, and his Special Friend Shirley Martin whom brought him much love, happiness and joy.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 1 PM, from St. Andrew’s United Church, Blackville, NB with Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight officiating. Interment will take place in the St. Andrew’s United Church Cemetery following the service.
The family wishes to welcome everyone to a Reception in the United Church Hall in Blackville, following the Interment.
