  • William Geikie, formerly of Pond St, Miramichi, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2013, at the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home, at the age of 91.

    Born in Newcastle, he was the son of the late William and Mary (Harding) Geikie. He was a World War II Veteran and worked as a laborer and was a member of Saint James and Saint John United Church.

    William is survived by his son Stephen Geikie (Gwen) of Miramichi; two sisters Rita Sutherland of Miramichi, and Juanita (Clark Allison) of Fredericton; three grandchildren Shauna (Jason Harris), James Geikie (Theresa), and Jory Geikie (Jordan); five great grandchildren Callie, Tori, Amy, Amber, and Koen; and several nieces and nephews.

    Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Eleanor (Sobey), three brothers David, Roy, and Carl, and one sister Ina Walsh.

    The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at 11 am, with Rev. John Fraser officiating.

    As expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home, or to a memorial of one's choice.
